The Challenge: An Impenetrable 800-Unit Deck of Cards
Our client was faced with a critical and very specific requirement: to quickly, automatically and accurately count thousands of RFID cards stacked like a single, thick deck of cards. We are talking about stacks up to 700/800 cards high.
No standard RFID self-service checkout on the market was able to accomplish this. The reason is technical: when such a large number of RFID tags are crowded together and compressed, the radio signals interfere with each other, making reading partial, inaccurate or even impossible. For the customer, this resulted in operational inefficiencies, the inability to obtain reliable inventory counts and difficulties in retail sales.
The Tailor-Made Solution: Power, Engineering and a Touch of Vibration
Starting from our flagship solution – the RFID Self Checkout Box with resealable lid, already powerful in itself thanks to its configuration with 6 antennas for maximum reading power – we have designed an exclusive innovation.
We didn’t just upgrade the hardware. We developed an intelligent automation system that incorporates a slight controlled vibration. This mechanism, combined with the power of the antennas, has a specific task: to “separate” the cards.
In practice, the gentle vibration acts on the deck, promoting microscopic spacing between one tile and another. This allows our UHF antennas to ‘see’ each individual tag clearly, isolating it from interference from its neighbours.
The result? Extremely high
reading performance and 100% accuracy, even with stacks of hundreds of cards.
Complete Integration: A Fluid and Connected System
Our customised RFID Self Checkout system was not simply delivered and installed. We took care of its full integration with the management software already in use by the customer, via API. This means that the counting system interacts seamlessly with the existing IT ecosystem, completely automating inventory and sales processes.
