One of our clients needed to count the number of people passing through certain areas of their company. The areas are in open spaces and therefore it is not possible to place the classic photocells, nor even to use a camera system; there is also the possibility of laying cables for the supply or for sending the collected data.
Zinformata has developed a “smart” PVC floor (also suitaicble for outdoor environments) consisting of a plate of the size of 2 meters by 2 meters and with a thickness of just 10mm in which are contained pressure sensors (one every square meter) able to detect the passage of people.
The sensors are connected to an embedded board, made to measure for this project, contained inside the floor itself. This card has the task to collect the data of the sensors, analyze them and send them, via Wifi connection, to a gateway that collects all the data and makes them available to the customer.
The system is powered by an easily replaceable rechargeable battery lasting several days, also located inside the floor itself.
Thanks to our solution, the customer managed to obtain the data he needed that he could not have with the standard solutions.
